Salone in a month…

One month down…one month to go...

Hello from Sierra Leone! I decided to take a moment to quickly write up a blog update while I had a chance. I'm just past the halfway point of this trip and it has been a lot to process. Already I feel some changes in myself as a result of the challenges I have been facing and the work I have been doing. It's always challenging to bring about change and challenge the things that we are so comfortable with, even if they are the very things that are harming us the most. Yet when we come to the point of reaching the end of ourselves, we develop perseverance and in turn, character. There's a Bible verse about that - and finally I am seeing what is meant by it…in myself and in the nation of Sierra Leone. The work has been rewarding but tough, however, we are receiving so much positive feedback and hearing from countless locals who believe this curriculum is what their nation needs, which is still mind-blowing to me! Our curriculum has been practiced in around 7 different village communities in and around the country of Sierra Leone - teaching healthy births from a spiritual, emotional, and physical perspective. It has been a myriad of interesting experiences to say the least…from people demanding we stop speaking to others singing and dancing in response. This hasn't been just another trip for me... it has truly been a labour of love and has required me to face a lot of self-doubt and truly ask myself: what am I doing this for? It's challenged me to recognize I cannot rely on my own strength and it has revealed to me that change and revival is possible - but it doesn't just happen. You have to engage your vision and see it through to completion…and sometimes that can be one of the toughest things to do. We have one month left here and we are finalizing our 10 lesson plans and preparing for a training session for mid-June to actually leave a remnant behind. If you pray, please pray for us…that this would actually be the launching pad to bringing this potentially nation-changing curriculum to this country. We know that it can, we just need the faith that it will. Thanks for reading…check us out and subscribe to the newsletter at www.freedomtree.ca. And feel free to contact me on my contact page…I'd love to get some messages from you guys! I am also working on the gallery portion of this website to compile my documentation of the trip, so stay tuned. But for now, follow that link for my Instagram posts, which are quite frequent, to see some of the beautiful country of Sierra Leone! Also…book recommendation… "Love Does" by Bob Goff. I just finished it over the last couple weeks and it rocked my world and gave me such fresh perspective! Have you read it? Isn't it awesome?

Until next time... j o s i a h.
